The Second Epistle of John, often referred to as II John, is an anonymous New Testament epistle written by "the elder." Since the time of Eusebius of Caesaria, it has been attributed to the apostle John, the brother of James. The letter comprises a single chapter of thirteen verses, making it one of the shortest books of the Bible.

The letter is addressed to "the chosen lady and her children". Some scholars take this as a reference to an individual Christian lady; others view this as symbolizing a local church. John congratulates the lady that some of her children are "walking in the truth" and urges them all to love one another. He then warns them against teachers who do not accept the word of Jesus, exhorting them to not receive such false teachers.

John does not identify himself in the letter; the author refers to himself simply as "the elder".
