III John
From A Storehouse of Knowledge
The Third Epistle of John is the shortest book of the Bible.[1] It is written by John "the Elder"[note 1] to his friend Gaius, thanking him for helping traveling preachers. John observes that Diotrephes, "who loveth to have the preeminence among" the church, refused to hear John's messengers or receive the traveling preachers and excommunicates those who do. John promised to come himself and remember what Diotrephes had done.
