The First Epistle of Peter (or I Peter or 1 Peter) is a letter written by the apostle Peter to all the early Christians in various lands. It is included in the Bible, grouped alongside the other letters in the New Testament.

In the letter, Peter gives advice to Christians on how to live among non-Christians. He calls Christians "a chosen people" (1 Peter 2:9), and urges them to set a good example to non-Christians in preparation for the second coming of Jesus (1 Peter 2:12). This example includes obeying the rulers and laws of the countries where they live and following the example of Jesus' life, as well as getting on well with one another.

Towards the end of the letter, Peter encourages Christians to bear suffering with good grace, because it is for a just cause. To help this, he instructs elders of the church to look after the younger Christians, and the younger people to receive their teaching readily.
