Lamentations
From A Storehouse of Knowledge
Lamentations is a book of the Old Testament written by the prophet Jeremiah. It is quite a lyrical work telling of Jeremiah's sorrow after Jerusalem was destroyed and its inhabitants were taken into exile by the Babylonians. It ends with a plea to God to help His people and restore them to Jerusalem - a plea that was eventually answered, as recounted in the Book of Ezra.
