Seattle
From A Storehouse of Knowledge
Seattle is a city in the north-west of the United States of America. It is the largest and most important city in the state of Washington (though not the state capital). It is famous for its sports teams, the Seattle Mariners and Seattle Seahawks, and for being the setting for the popular television comedy programme and Cheers spin-off Frasier. Among Americans, Seattle is also known for the delicious, high-quality coffee that is sold all over the city.
During the 1990s, Seattle briefly became world famous for its music, becoming the home of the aggressively miserablist, primal and ragged form of rock music known as grunge. To this day, many residents of Seattle make music with a similar aesthetic and dress in the wardrobe of grunge, although the newer bands tend not to be much known outside the local area.
Seattle is called after a local Native American chief, Chief Seattle.
