Instructions
- Familiarise yourself with the membership requirements.
- Place the following on the user's talk page:
== Membership nomination ==
{{Member voting|result=none|senior=no|votes=1|1= <!-- IMPORTANT: for "support" votes, increment the "votes=" -->
* '''Support''' ~~~~
}} <!-- IMPORTANT: place vote BEFORE this line -->
This places the template and records your supportive vote.
NOTE: This template must not be used by a non-member. This means that a non-member cannot nominate himself. He can, however, ask a member to nominate him. Similarly, if used for nominating for senior membership, this template can only be used by a senior member. If nominating for senior membership, set senior to equal yes.
'result' parameter
The result parameter should be set to one of the following:
- none: This is the initial setting, and indicates that voting is not complete. It places the pages in the Membership candidates category.
- yes: The parameter is set to yes if the candidate if the membership nomination is successful. This removes the voting instructions, hides the votes, and removes the categories the template placed the page in.
- no: The parameter is set to no if the candidate failed to get sufficient votes, or was otherwise denied (senior) membership. This also removes the voting instructions, hides the votes, and removes the categories the template placed the page in.
- cancelled: The parameter is set to cancelled if for any reason the voting was cancelled. This may be because the person declined nomination or because they gained membership some other way. In this case, the reason parameter must be supplied, but is ignored otherwise.
- Any other value will cause an error message to be displayed, as shown at the top of this page.
Categories
If the result parameter is set to none, the page is placed in the Membership candidates category.
If the result parameter is set to none and the votes parameter is greater than 9, the page is also placed in the Membership candidates with 10 votes category.
Otherwise, no category is assigned.
