An alcoholic beverage's Alcohol by volume, or ABV, is the amount of absolute alcohol it contains divided by its volume. Conversely, multiplying the ABV of a beverage times the volume will give the absolute alcohol it contains, which is important to know for the purpose of moderate drinking.
