Cabo Verde (formerly known as Cape Verde) is an island country located off the west coast of Africa. The capital and largest city is Praia. As of July 2013, the population was estimated at 531,046.
The country was formerly known in English as "Cape Verde". On October 24, 2013, it was announced that the country would now be known by its native name, "Cabo Verde", which means "green cape" in Portuguese.
