Dante Alighieri

Dante Alighieri (1265-1321) was a Florentine poet who lived in the late thirteenth and early fourteenth centuries. He was active in politics and philosophy, but is best known for his poetic works, in particular his magnum opus the Divine Comedy, which tells of a journey taken through Hell, Purgatory and Heaven.
