Singing

From A Storehouse of Knowledge
Jump to: navigation, search

Singing refers to the use of one's voice to make music. Considered to be the oldest sort of music, singing can be found in some form in almost all cultures worldwide. Singing can be performed with or without words, and with or without tonality.

Singing is performed by a singer, or vocalist. It can be performed alone (a cappella) or accompanied by other vocalists (such as a barbershop quartet), accompanied by other musical instruments (a band), or a combination of additional instruments and vocalists (a church choir).
