Skacore (or ska-core) is a genre of music that fuses hardcore punk with ska. Compared to the ska-punk of the 1980s and 1990s, it is much faster and harder. Also, several skacore bands do without the horn section that is considered to be crucial in most ska outfits. Although their music cannot be generally classified as skacore, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones pioneered the genre and coined the term in the title of their 1993 EP Ska-Core, the Devil, and More. Examples of skacore bands include Operation Ivy and Voodoo Glow Skulls.
